Use it to sharpen anything and flatten guitar frets

I've used this thing quite a lot. I sharpened the dresser knives using a manufactured jig. I thinned shims to make spacers for my planing tables. I used it to sharpen turning tools. Just wash it with soapy water and wipe dry. The thing seems indestructible when it comes to sharpening with it. My only complaint is that, as far as I can tell, finer grades are not available in this style. I have also found this device to be good for leveling guitar frets.

Pros
  • 2" x 6" worktop
Cons
  • Damaged

Great, especially for the price

The first reviewer has a very good product description. This is not a piece of metal on either side (that's what I was going to buy). Actually when I read the description (two metal plates glued together with some kind of hard material) but I'm so glad I did. Because that's actually better if you need weight when sharpening. Very durable and sharpens knives very well. Compared to a $30 size 1 credit card, there is no competition here, the value is much better.

Pros
  • Can be used with water (with or without soap) or dry
Cons
  • No instructions

Ideal for sharpening stones

It's hard to overly criticize something this cheap, but it gets the job done. Some reviewers thought it might bend or flex with use. I 3D printed the stand to match, making it more rigid in use and containing oil that is pushed overboard. It also helps keep it in place during use. I've sharpened 6 or 7 slightly run down chisels in the last few days and it did a great job removing a lot of material fairly quickly. I don't know how long it will last, but for the price I'm sure I'll get my money's

Pros
  • 600 grit fine side
Cons
  • High price
