I use it for positioning/aligning my laser. Works great for what it is. Please note this is not a precision fastener. It's aluminum-plastic die-cast parts and it does have some play, but for the money and what it's capable of, it's definitely worth having on hand. But being able to rotate the laser with the fine tuning wheel is very controllable and amazing! There are also dials for moving along the X and Y axes, but the range isn't huge. The wheel itself is worth the money.

I use it on a tripod, alone or on the magnetic base that usually comes with lasers. often all you need is an angle to check the plumb where you don't really need it but to create sets of parallel lines or rectangular floorplans as I have to do renovations on old houses only superficially familiar with the concepts of area or Lot, this little fellow is priceless. Mind you, you're only buying about 0.75 inches of travel in the X and Z axes, but I haven't had much trouble getting close to that…
