The best of the best for testing, measuring and verifying

Look, you're buying a tool for a specific job. This tool does exactly what it was designed to do. The glass tube is clear and transparent and is the ideal vessel for testing the alcohol content of any liquid. The gauge is easy to read and accurate. A very professional tool that is only slightly more expensive than cheaper alternatives. I would definitely buy again. If I had to replace it.

Excellent test device - fabric analyzer

It turned out to be easy and convenient to use. Tested for 70% alcohol which I have had for years. Right to. In fact, I used it to test Allclean 70% isopropyl alcohol and it registered 100%! We checked the density and according to the test it is 0.8g/ml, the density of pure alcohol. Allclean accidentally sent 100%? Wrote a separate review on Allclean. As far as I know, this only applies to a mixture of alcohol and water. Care must be taken as all hydrometers are fragile.

Great product and value!

hydrometer is not the cheapest on Amazon but definitely the best for the price. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the packaging as well as the reusable plastic case used to store the hydrometer itself. The borosilicate glass vial also has a blue rubber bumper to protect it if knocked over and I can confirm it works. I knocked mine over and it didn't break! High quality but very brittle and works best in a temperature controlled environment

High quality hydrometer kit, I use this to check the cask strength of my home aged bourbons and adjust them for proper bottling. It is very important to be very careful with this and to slowly release the measuring "pear" in the liquid-filled test tube so that the pear does not hit the bottom of the tube, which can easily break the pear. The product is consistent and accurate, however.

The moisture meter is very easy to use. The instructions are also easy to understand. However; the glass cylinder that came with our areometer is so terribly crooked and tilted to the left that it can hardly stand on its own. We need to hold the cylinder to make sure it stays upright when we pour ethanol into it. Otherwise the product itself is good. The areometer is not certified, but serves its purpose. We have a personal gym and we used a lot more rubbing alcohol than we have in the past. Unfortunately, our regular suppliers couldn't keep up with the times, so we had to buy from companies we didn't know. We bought this to test the alcohol content of the bottles we bought. Inaccurate (but you can fake it if you want)

I did a baseline with this meter to make sure it was calibrated. Used Knob Creek Rye 100pf, Bulleit Rye 90pf and Jameson Whiskey 80pf. They all scored 8 more points than they should have. For example, Knob Creek showed 108 on this device. So I tested distilled water and it showed almost 10 proofs! There were many other reviews that complained of similar inaccuracies; above and below. Works great just follow instructions fully

I've seen some reviews claiming it's 4 or more proof but I don't think they took temperature into account. You must follow the instructions correctly for each gauge to be accurate. The temperature of the alcohol affects the readings. Therefore, if the ambient temperature is 75 or 80 degrees, you must understand that your alcohol is not 60 degrees, which is the base temperature.
