Make sure you read and understand the instructions well. Each digit controls a specific function. Once you understand this, it will be very easy to change functions. Not for a normal aquarium but more for a nano tank, much better than any Ecotech or AI pump. I've tried 3 different pumps and they all say they're very "unobtrusive". They are perfect to place anywhere. They aren't multidirectional, but you don't need pumps in a nano aquarium to be that way.
