Shaft separating from handle - buy another ceramic sharpener

This sharpener lasted about 6 weeks and although the ceramic sharpens the knives really well the construction of this particular product is of rather poor quality. . The stem separates from the handle with minimal use. I was expecting that from another product that was many times cheaper than this one. Unsurprisingly, the return option/guarantee expires after 4 weeks. It could have been a great purchase but in the end I hope to warn others not to buy.

Beyond Astonished Knife Sharpener

I had no idea a sharpening steel could have such an effect, especially with so little effort. A few light taps on the shaft with a blade (recently machine sharpened) and I have a razor sharp knife again. Now I'm a bit nervous and frustrated at how many years I've waited to get a tool like this... and Idahon turned out to be TheWirecutter's best choice (I have nothing to do with it...). Whether you need sharp knives but don't have any, or have a basic knife sharpening tool, you need this stick…

Great tonic, great price.

Excellent sharpener. I wanted a high quality ceramic grinder for my more expensive kitchen knives. And I had to sharpen with the highest possible grit for as long as possible. This will of course remove some steel from the knives, so it's also a good idea to sharpen well so you can turn and keep the knives sharp and unscathed. This grinder is long, very fine grit, seems sturdy and works great for me. Like any ceramic grinder, it can break, so be careful not to drop it or roll it off the table…
