Mine is excellent: calipers

. Accuracy is key. It's very accurate; I measured several setting blocks and the deviation was within the specified tolerance. The big advantage is the automatic zero setting. Just do the initial setup following the clearly written, simple instructions. After that, you can use it many times without checking the locked zero point again. One of the control switches allows you to switch between three display modes: metric in millimeters, digital in inches and SAE measurement with an accuracy of…

Superb product in its own right, an absolute steal in this price range

I bought this caliper and the compatible USB interface at the same time (see "iGaging SPC USB Cable for OriginCal 100-700 Series" for very positive comments) The caliper itself comes in a rugged, reusable storage unit with the battery installed and a spare battery in the case. The caliper fit and finish is above average with no loose or ill-fitting parts. The test measurements were accurate and reproducible. Before using this type of instrument, you know what's best when they're not doing…

  • Industrial & Scientific

Most used tool on my workbench

This is the most used tool on my workbench. I keep it next to my pencil and notepad and have used it to measure, adjust and reverse engineer all sorts of things (toys, electronics, 3D printed parts, replacement parts, etc.). I definitely get my money's worth and it's 10 times better than the ruler (which I also have). The absolute origin function is also great. This means I don't have to zero the caliper every time I use it. I had to reset my absolute zero when I first took it out of the box…

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Crumpled

Is Mitutoyo really that good? Continue reading.

Although I've just started with machining, I have a long experience with metrology. I got them out of a desire to step into the digital age. LOL I have several pairs of calipers from different manufacturers. I have 3 calipers (1 Mitutoyo, 1 Aerospace and 1 Mauser), 2 calipers (1 Aerospace and 1 Mitutoyo) and some random metric ones. First impression and build quality: The first thing that strikes me is gravity. in this thing. You lift it up and hold the tool with the weight. In my opinion…

  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Disappearing

Media could not be loaded. I bought this caliper in late November 2018 to use in my job as a mechanical engineer and shipped it overseas where I live. The caliper seemed to work fine, but little did I know it had a serious problem measuring anything. more than 130mm. I only noticed this problem after receiving parts from machining and noticing that the threads on the machined part did not completely match the bolt gap holes in the part I measured. "Jumps" about 5.3mm somewhere around 130mm and…

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers.
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options.
