What is good in a square and what is not?

What good is a square if it's not a square? Well beyond the stated error. I had to send mine back even though the size was large. Too bad.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

I would like to give a lower start for slip info

The box says "square" at 0.0015 I would say they are. Revain's description says the square at 0.0008 isn't that close. Both glide a little rough, I see some light trying to match them. I'd happily give a lower start for the receipt info but for the price they will do the woodworking work. Again, don't buy if you want something more specific.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Used tools in carpenter's corners

This isn't a Starrett. So what's new? For the money, my kit came as accurate and functional as possible. The 4" square tended to stick after tightening the knurled nut. On my machine this was corrected by removing the pin and gently sanding the recess to remove milling marks (which would not have been necessary on a Starrett). Lubrication of the parts, preferably graphite, kept the tool running smoothly. All in all only a few minutes of work for a useful tool.

Pros
  • Dope ๐Ÿ”ฅ
Cons
  • Not the best

Ok Double Square, but not great

I really like iGaging's dials and calipers, but I was a little disappointed by two specific drawbacks of the double square set. First, the head doesn't slide smoothly at all. That might not be fair because I'm comparing it to my combined Starrett square, but I expect it to slip because you're doing that to it all day. Second, the markings on the rulers are very dull. I find it difficult to read them in any light other than the best. I went ahead and bought a Starrett 13A and it's better on both

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • Some minor issues

Accurate and Useful

iGaging deserves 5 stars for developing an accurate and useful product at a tremendous price. I found them to be as accurate as my Starrett 12." In my opinion, reviewers who dismiss them because "they're not as stylish as the Starrett" miss the point. The product isn't more accurate than iGaging, but they charge for five times as much.Do a job, and do it well.If you want to get from point A to point B, you can buy a Chevrolet or a BMW, the experience is different but the results are the same.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Good overall, but...

06.07.20 - Early. It's been over 20 years since I worked as a machinist at GE making engines, and 20 years before that. So I was looking forward to this one. When I got to the door, I took a quick look at them and found the following: * Readability - Verifying, as others have said, isn't the best. Combine that with old eyes and it's hard. * The body is pretty good, as long as the hinges hold, it protects items. * Threaded locknuts - the verification, as others say, is quite rough. Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Crumpled

I'm an engineer by trade, working with manufacturers and inspecting precision parts. You can find the best product at your local warehouse or at Loues. I bought this combo square set hoping to get something of a higher quality than what is available at online hardware stores without spending $$$ on an asterisk. The markings are not pronounced enough to see without above-average lighting and angles. Shiny metal and poor quality markings often result in low contrast to the markings, making themโ€ฆ

Value for money, precision

Looking for options for my daily work I decided to order this set for myself. I was only skeptical because of the price and my experience with this type of square design that is usually available at hardware stores. I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised. What is the most important thing? WHAT YOU ARE SQUARE! They are truly square and every deviation I could measure was less than 0.001." The edges of the rulers themselves are nice and straight on the set I received and they come in a niceโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Blades: Hardened, precision ground satin chrome blades

  • Vanishing Blades

Rated 4.5 stars for woodworking and general shop use.

This is a 4.5 star rated double angle set for woodworking and general workshop use. At $34.00 this iGaging 4" and 6" set is worth buying, especially compared to the $80.00 Starrett 6" elbow - let me explain. I have my own Starrett precision tools - a 12" square, a compass and a point finder. These are high quality precision instruments purchased in the 1990's and are of excellent quality. However, it comes at a high price, especially today in 2020 dollars. I needed one good set of squares toโ€ฆ
