Much better than lock nuts

I like to use these threaded inserts in my 3D prints whenever possible. They work much better than snap nuts as it takes a lot more force to loosen the bond between the plastic and the inserts than it does to remove the stuck nuts. They make my casts much stronger as I can tighten the screws tighter. Highly recommended!

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • Some flaws

Amazing Parts Quality Update

I printed holes in my parts when I wanted two parts to be bolted together. Now that I'm using these brass inserts, my parts look almost professional. they can be pressed very well with a soldering iron and hold very well in plastic. Extreme torque is required to shift this insert. I definitely recommend using a brass insert for durable and reliable 3D printed parts.

Pros
  • Free for Educational Purposes
Cons
  • Useless Features

Works perfectly! Easy to use! Do that!

Very easy to insert and stick! I received M3 .5 inserts (short) and preferred the 5.4mm diameter x 4mm deep cavity. I've used my cheapest pointy tip non-temp controlled soldering iron and haven't had any problems with it so far. They HAVE a top and bottom, see the second from the left on my test stick in the picture. I installed the insert and used a long screw there and pulled as hard as I could with pliers to lock the channel a couple of times. It's very well established. I like using them!

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Quality

Much better than the general ones you'll find published!

Most heatset nuts you see at Revain have two rows of straight ribs. They're cheap, but they're actually intended for use in injection molding, where they're inserted and then overmolded with plastic. They are not so good for post-heating for 3D printing. You need that. Rather, they are intended to be inserted into the finished part. This particular seller seems to have very good models too - so far I haven't had a single defect from anything I've ordered and used.

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • Not bad

Works great and very easy to use

I chose size M3 and made holes 5mm wide and 8mm deep in PLA. I ended up ordering some Virtjoule soldering iron tips to insert, but they don't require it. I run the soldering iron at around 700F and they slowly go in very smoothly without melting too much. They take a few minutes to cool down and so far they've all been very tight without feeling like they're getting loose. The only advice I can really give is don't force them in, if they get hot enough they will push in with some pressure. Also

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
