Building an aquaponic system

I built an aquaponic system. When I finally got around to installing this unit, one of the thermostats wasn't working. Two heaters/thermostats in the same tank showed different temperatures! I think it's a manufacturing defect. I would like to exchange the device, but the exchange window was closed by the time the construction was completed and the device unpacked.

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Hard to say

Easy to install, easy to use and reliable

I have 3 of these to control and maintain the temperature in my saltwater reef aquariums. Great product and I am very happy with it. I have 1 that went out of calibration for some reason. Easy to fix with the calibration function in the settings. I check them regularly to make sure they are there and so far so good. Minor adjustments from time to time. Happy owner for almost a year.

  • This is amazing

Great product if only the quality was better

I have a total of 4 of these units which we use to control the temperature in the chick box. Controllers work fine until they stop. Of my 4, 2 have been rejected in the last few weeks. It looks like the errors are due to poor quality relays. If the unit switches to cooling after the limit has been reached, the heating relay will remain stuck and will not turn off the heating system, but will simply continue to heat while the cooling system light is on. This leads to overheating, which in our…

Does exactly what I need at a modest price.

Simple enough, but you probably actually need RTFM (Read The F'ing Manual). Definitely not intuitive, but not that difficult either. Accuracy is +/- 1 degree Fahrenheit, which is good enough for what I use it for: maintaining the set temperature for my beer fermentation. The actual sensor cable is long enough for my needs, as is the power cable. It's got a nice array of options, notably the ability to enable separate heating and cooling units - if you need to be configured that way. I didn't…

was stupid at first. The replacement has worked great so far.

the first one I got was dead. They sent me a replacement and it worked fine. very easy to program. If it proves reliable over time I'll add a 5th star. The thermostat is no longer accurate. The reading is 19 degrees higher than the actual temperature. It still turns your devices on and off based on preferences you set, but that's about it. I keep a mechanical thermometer in my pond to keep track of the actual temperature and then adjust Inkbird accordingly. I currently set my thermostat to 97F…

Works well for testing, measuring and checking

I use this to make a fridge for my camper out of a small chest freezer. While you work like a champ. I can get an average temp of up to about 35 degrees by drawing a total of about 6 amps DC which is a freezer, inverter and inkbird relay all together powered by 2 6v golf cart batteries connected as 12v and cool down in about 2.45 minutes, so it's only running about 2.5 minutes every 15-20 minutes at about 72 degrees ambient. Based on my quick calculations I should be able to run this freezer at

Worst attachment I have.

This device is inaccurate. I use it in my grow tent and it's pure luck that I didn't ruin my harvest with that piece of crap. I calibrate it every day 3-4 times with two other temperature sensors. It's permanently off. I'm writing this review right now because my tent just dropped to 62 degrees which could destroy your plants while this POS showed 70 degrees just a few hours after I calibrated it. This useless device has caused me so much stress in this cultivation practice that I want to smash

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Socket required

Saved my freezer from a garbage heap.

The thermostat controller in my 10 year old freezer died and they are no longer made. I had to either find another thermostat or buy a new freezer. This is a very flexible thermostat controller that has met all my needs. Lots of programmable options including a wide temperature range, adjustable differential (so it can heat/cool by a few degrees rather than just trying to maintain an accurate temperature) and adjustable compressor delay. The last two are critical for refrigeration applications…

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No automation

GARBAGE! Two of them died in less than a day!

Product looked good. It had a fairly thick power cord which is better than any competitor I've seen. He also had beautiful qualities. I particularly liked being able to set an alarm to sound when the temperature gets too high or too low. What I didn't like was that this "1800 watt" unit died a few hours after turning on the 1500 watt heater. I measured the power consumption with a Kill-A-Watt device, which showed that the peak power consumption was actually a little under 1500 watts (yes, the…
