This is a good inexpensive processor, but don't be an idiot like me who doesn't realize that you need a dedicated graphics card for this processor. I spent 8 hours testing 3 boards, 2 processors and 4 memory sticks before actually looking at the boxes with those processors.

Main reason for purchase was to play Word of Warcraft. He plays World of Warcraft very well. No integrated graphics, but that doesn't matter since I'm using a graphics card. The only downside is that there is no fast sync for video transcoding. There's a lot to consider when doing something like this.

Ideal if you want to use a discrete graphics card and don't want or don't want to worry about overclocking. I have a problem with the packaging. The standard cooler was packed in a cardboard box. The thermal paste had lint and small pieces of cardboard. I was already planning on using my own paste, but I'd be really upset if I didn't plan to, or if I had extra paste.

Core processor graphics are integrated into the CPU, not the motherboard. If you're using an additional graphics card, this is a great solution. Note: Even if your motherboard has physical video connectors, they will not work with this processor without additional graphics. However, if you're planning on having a dedicated card, why pay for something you won't be using.

From personal experience, the difference between this $80 processor and the $520 9th Gen i9 9900K is as follows. $440. The frame rate increase at 1440p was ABOUT 2-3 fps, which is low enough to fall within the error window. I can't think of a consumer use case where you're actually going to get ANY benefit from more powerful processors, other than a few minutes reduction in video encoding (that's encoding, not decoding, aka "viewing"). Put that $440 into a GPU upgrade and you'll REALLY help…

There was a time when i3s were good but I couldn't even play CoD on the lowest settings. I used a 1660 Super ($300 video card) so I know it wasn't a card. I had maybe 25 fps and constant freezing.
