Works best with twist drill bits

I installed a drill stand on the front of one of my bench grinders which is handy for my work space. I look down on it so 2nd and 3rd row marks behind the bits aren't an issue as others have pointed out. I have a bunch of bits that are my backup for my clamshell case (Dewalt) and this makes it more convenient than having to rummage through a box of envelopes.

I bought 4 pieces!

Very easy to read. I use them not only to store my drill bits but also to check what size screw I have and what size drill bit I need for that screw. I keep a few spaces to check the dimensions. I love the color and markings that are perfect. Much better than floating because I can leave it on the table and check it with one hand. Floating requires you to pick up both, and it's more difficult to use.

  • Twist drill

Doesn't hold drill straight up and down

I have an almost identical Huot #829 bit holder that is over 20 years old - when drills are placed on it they are all perfectly parallel and perfectly vertical. The Irwin is different, the bits are significantly off-line and have a little more play in the holes, so they dangle a little more. Yes, it does its job, only it looks a bit off for an engineer who loves precision. The holder is clearly not bent or deformed - I think it's just a by-product of being from China. The blue finish is nice…
