There is a rod that attaches the recoil button to the recoil mechanism and that rod appears to have fallen off during shipping or was incorrectly attached at the factory. I bought this machine in 2017 but hardly used it until recently (October 2019). I got about 25 hours of (gentle) use from it before it broke in the middle of a project. Here you have"hard work"! I immediately checked the Janome warranty, but of course it had already expired.
