The last lasted 3 years. This one works great.

I got one of these when we got our first saltwater aquarium 3 years ago. Well, the old one failed and "wasn't working" properly, so I wanted to fly around and find a replacement. The device works well, got a star for only 6 months warranty considering the cost of the device. Love the included sensor mount system which we used on the go. We've used suction cups before but just sitting in the water gives them slime etc. I'm not a big fan of the EXTRA tank maintenance (there's already so much toโ€ฆ

Great value for money, works perfectly

I researched ATO for many months before purchasing. I read forums, read reviews, talked to amateurs and watched videos. Because this is such an essential part of a reef aquarium, I needed to make sure I was getting something reliable and accurate. I found both products in this product. It has an adjustable pump timer which is great for different size tanks. It has a safety float to keep your pump from running dry. It has an easy to read display. It works on a simple float. valves. Buy another one in 5 years!

Seriously, I've had this in a 300 gallon saltwater reef aquarium for 5 years and today the sensor (or something related to it) finally failed. And you know what saved my ass? Timeout function for 3 minutes! Yes, it did exactly what it was designed to do and stopped the tide by timing out. I clean his float about every two months and keep anything that swims nearby away from the float as it is an important piece of equipment for my aquarium. I also use it in a sump system with a regular Maxi-Jet

Pros
  • GOLS Certificate
Cons
  • Damaged

The main problem I have with this ATO is that it cuts power to the pump after the pump has been on for three minutes and goes into some sort of "fault state" that just can be reset. B. by floating the sensors (which signal the automatic control that the water is full) or restarting the automatic air traffic control. I use a low flow lift pump that only puts out about 2 ounces per minute. So if I do a water change and take 6 ounces more than I'm adding, this thing goes into an error state andโ€ฆ

it's not bad, but for aquarium water treatments

Not bad for the price but. this is my second. The first was DOA. I have tgis one to replace doa one. Spring. One night I got a call from town. My roommate told me my swamp was out of water and my pumps were going crazy! After asking my roommate to add RO as suggested. The next day I went home. I think ATO has a pump shutoff feature. It was very hot for a few days and the ATO was turning on and off several times a day I believe. At some point it got stuck. Luminaires that contain everything. Myโ€ฆ
