Description of 🔪 John Boos Block CCB183-S: Reversible Maple Wood End Grain Chopping Block, 18x18x3 – Top-Quality Kitchen Essential

John Boos Block CCB183-S Classic Reversible Maple Wood End Grain Chopping Block measures 18 inches long, 18 inches wide and 3 inches thick. Made in the USA: Each John Boos Butcher Block and Cutting Board is proudly made in Effingham, Illinois by skilled craftspeople using time honored techniques since 1887. Butcher block is made from sustainably sourced, hand-selected Northern Hard Rock Maple Wood- widely recognized as one of finest, most durable food preparation surfaces in the world. This reversible butcher block features End Grain construction, resulting in John Boos' iconic checkerboard cutting surface with professional grade durability. Care: hand wash and dry. Apply John Boos Mystery Oil regularly (more often in dry climates, and when the board is brand new), use John Boos Board Cream to seal the wood surface after applying Mystery Oil. Oil and cream sold separately on Amazon. The Professional Choice: Often imitated, Boos Boards and blocks are the preferred cutting surfaces of top chefs and restaurants around the world. Safe for fine cutlery: Wooden cutting boards are easier on knives than plastic boards (which can dull knives more quickly).

Excellent cutting board

This board is not only beautiful, but also practical for preparing food. I've always used thin, flexible cutting boards to cut food. I like that it is strong and has better control over the knife during use. I oiled it three times over several days and then sealed it. I used Boos Mystery Oil and Plank Cream. I am very, very happy with my purchase!

Cutting Board Care

This is a smaller version of what I'm looking for. Excellent cutting surface with smooth corners and edges. Made of maple, very durable, heavy enough not to slip. Cleaning is easy, soak a rag in vinegar, and to care for the wood, it is smeared with oil every month. I came across this cutting board while looking for a breadboard. I love it and it looks great on the counter.

High quality in the kitchen and dining room

High quality, very heavy and despite what others have said about splitting wood I haven't had any problems. I was a bit hesitant to buy this due to some negative reviews but luckily my device is fine. I would like to point out that you NEED to keep lubricating it. I bought Boos oil (but there are other oils that work well). In general I am very satisfied, I hope the tree does not split! :)

  • Brilliantly made

  • The list will be long.

I like it so much that I decided on 36 inches.

This is the most beautiful chopping board I have ever owned. She stood proudly on my quartz coated island. the only downside, but what can you expect from a 3" 18" x 18" solid maple cutting board? It has ample space to cook multiple veggies at once and store them separately. I love it so much I... ended up getting a 36 inch island from John Boos when I moved to a new house that didn't have an island.

The quality control is HORRIBLE.

I am so incredibly upset with this purchase. I bought this for my boyfriend as a gift. And when I saw how he looked after he took off the cellophane, my heart sank. There are scratches and dents on the corners, a scratch on the block itself, and a HUGE wound right where the finger grips are on the deck. How did this block even pass quality control?! I have thought and tried a lot about this gift and it has totally failed. I'm trying to figure out how to post pictures with it because trying to…

Boos unfortunately failed

We had to return 3 different versions of this board. The first had ragged edges and a knot or something filled with dark gray wood spatula. The second board we received was unfinished, it was never finished at the factory and was actually still covered in sawdust even though it was shrink-wrapped. On the third try there was a crack about an inch and a half across the top of the board that did not follow the seam of the wood. The crack went all the way down, about half an inch. The end caps were

Separation cracks appeared after three weeks!

Received as a gift for my birthday on April 15th. Less than a month ago… I followed all the instructions, I use cream, oil, I put a block on my standing butcher in the middle of the room so there's no abuse. I use it probably 5 times. And I was shocked when I looked at it today, there were TWO tears. One tear was pretty obvious, the second I could see tape in the tear. $200 is a lot of money to spend on a cutting board! It's so disappointing when something that has such good reviews and a good…
