Not Square: Brackets and Adapters

After about an hour trying to line up the brakes on this thing, I realized it wasn't square so I threw it out. Just spend a few extra dollars and buy something famous.

Pros
  • Parts and Components
Cons
  • Minor

Works, but. for cycling

Product works but I had to find a shorter headed screw to make my brake (Magura MT) fit the adapter snugly. The cost went down because I couldn't use the model that came with it. The Shimano adapter comes with a screw that fits snugly into the adapter.

Pros
  • Brake Parts
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Does not fit parts and components

Instead of using 2 longer bolts to attach the adapter and caliper to the frame, the adapter attaches to the frame through staggered holes. an adapter that interferes with the head of the screw that attaches the adapter to the frame. It may work with some calipers but not Shimano XT.

Pros
  • Bike brakes and parts
Cons
  • Requires socket

It works if it comes with the right screws

The two screws supplied do not fit into the hole recess due to the non-removable washers and are too long. Os, it protrudes outwards and prevents the installation of a caliper. If the screws are a little shorter and no washers are permanently attached, everything works.

Pros
  • Brackets and adapters
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

It does the job in brackets and adapters

This adapter has allowed me to increase the brake size from 160mm to 180mm. All holes aligned correctly. The only criticism I would have is that there is barely enough clearance between the head of the bolt that attaches the adapter to the fork and the caliper itself. A screw with a slightly shorter head solves this problem. Bet that works for me.

Pros
  • Sport
Cons
  • Expandable

Works great with Shimano XT and SLX calipers

Works as described including Shimano XT and SLX calipers. SLS in the photo. First installed on my XT but replaced with my SLX setup because they are so ugly. The supplied screws must be used to attach the bracket to the fork. A typical caliper bolt is likely to hit and fail. My big gripe isn't anywhere on the list though, says or shows a big ugly logo on the side and the one washer that comes with it is gold. Too much bling for me. Would return them if I didn't need them today.
