Makes it pretty much useless to me since I'm after a .

I really wanted the garlic to grate without my fingers squeaking. The finger guard only works on the side of the slicer as it moves along the guide. The grating function is on the other side and has no trace of using the finger guard. It's pretty much useless to me since I was looking for a grater, not a slicer. This is not stated in the description. Too bad they didn't put the caterpillar on both sides. It seemed simple and made this product more versatile.

Don't buy this from Kitchen & Dining

I have two other Joseph Joseph kitchen gadgets that I love: a garlic chopper and a knife cleaner. Both are thoughtful, excellent and functional designs. However, this grater/cut isn't that much. You just missed it. The grater should be on the same side as the planer blade to use the finger guard. That's the whole point, isn't it, NOT rubbing the skin with grated ginger? The finger guard also does not slide smoothly. And the grater just doesn't drain as well as my micro plan. Good try but it…

design flaw. - Kitchen & Dining

I gave this appliance two stars because I use it about three times a week despite the lack of design. The product is good and sharp, but there is a small flaw. The manual security piece only works for the large belt above. It looks like the underside of the grater blade is designed backwards so the flat edge faces the hand tool. And you can't flip it over and use a hand grater on the back because there are no grooves to place it. So I had to drop the handpiece and rub it with my hand. I flip…

Garbage, like many Joseph Joseph kitchen utensils.

What do designers think of Joseph Joseph? They never ask chefs to test their products. I will never buy this product again. Garlic rocker, ginger grater, and now that's bullshit. The finger guard is only on the mandolin/razor side, so there is no guard on the Microglider grater side. The only thing it's good for is slicing almonds. You could make slits on the side of the grater to move the finger guard. You could make it an inch longer and put the grater teeth on the same side as the slicer.

Pros
  • High test results for strength and durability
Cons
  • Long lifespan

I've been looking forward to this hand grater to grate ginger and garlic easily. However, I was very disappointed when I saw that this device had a really stupid design flaw. The slicing edge and grilling edge are on opposite sides of the appliance, but the food holder slide is only on the slicing side. This makes the sliding food stand useless for grating, as you have to hold the ginger or garlic with your fingers. It would be so easy for a maker to fit a guide on both sides, or fit the sharp…

No microglider finger guard!

Warning: This item is NOT what most of you think! After bleeding all my garlic too many times with a regular micro slicer and not being impressed with garlic presses, I started looking for something that would quickly, easily, and bloodlessly chop garlic and ginger. Initially, I bought a pathetic piece of useless plastic called "Multifunctional Micro Glider". but it was just a lie. It was a non-sharp grater that didn't work at all. Then I came across this microplane! I was so glad to find the…
