Not compatible with my Hayes Stroker

Worse than useless for my Hayes Stroker brakes. This kit looks like it should be great and has some threaded adapters that appear to be visually identical to the threads on the arm, but they deviate very slightly so you can't turn the adapter more than a quarter turn. I stupidly tried to bleed anyway. I managed to put fresh brake fluid in but there must have been more air in the system than I removed and now the brakes are barely slowing the bike. I will buy another set next time hopefully with

Great deal for the price - saved me a ton

I have ridden mountain bikes and fat bikes for many years but usually shop for disc brakes and derailleurs. Now I have more time than money, so I decided to test my Giant Hayes hydraulic brakes. I was confused about the leveling process but with this kit and online tutorials it was easy. No more sponge brakes and I saved way more than the kit cost when I first used it. I love my local bike shop, don't get me wrong, but that's what DIY is all about.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Requires an outlet

Complete mess for sport

The syringe cannot pull the vacuum hard enough to bleed the brakes completely. Avid elixirs. I bought this rear brake bleed kit for my Avid Elixir R SL mountain bike. This was a very messy process as the tubing does not screw onto the syringe so the syringe fell off the tubing several times during the process and there was DOT liquid everywhere. allows air into the syringe before a vacuum is created strong enough to break the bubbles out of the liquid. The same problem occurs when pumpingโ€ฆ

GOOD ENOUGH for cycling

This great value kit comes at a great price. I wasn't sure what was wrong with the Hayes Prime brakes on my fat bike, so I didn't feel like jumping in for a $50 Hayes bleed kit. Two different bike shops have tried unsuccessfully to repair my soft rear brake by bleeding it. I finally found a bulge in the brake line on the 4th pump. I pulled the panel back until I found a spot in the line where brake fluid was leaking. I cut out the bad section of the brake line, reassembled and bled the rearโ€ฆ

Used parts from this kit to rebuild my SRAM Pro Bleed Kit. worked great!

I have a SRAM Pro bleed kit with good solid syringes. But after a few years the hoses hardened and I couldn't slam the clamps shut to bleed. I found a hose at a local hardware store to replace the hoses but there was a problem. The SRAM hose-syringe fitting was a two-piece screw-on compression fitting. It was fine, but the bottom fitting was a direct compression fit with a small piece of metal that is inserted into the hose and then pushed into the bottom (where the fitting screws into theโ€ฆ
