I was hoping this would be a good experience for my daughter and her hamster. It was a Santa Claus gift put together by me and my 9 year old. The spinning wheel mount's thin plastic broke under very little pressure before we could complete the installation. I used a Kaytee cage over the tank thinking my 7 year old could clean the CritterTrail himself. Not correct. In order to clean the cage, it must be completely disassembled. The yellow hose on the side connects to both the top and bottom, so it must be removed first. Then when the base is removed the sides fall out so you're building the cage from scratch every time you clean it. It is not suitable for children or adults. My hamsters initially liked this cage but as a sleeping/nesting place they always seem to occupy the highest spot (no matter what cage they are in) so while they used the top ball for movement, they used it too to store food and sleep.
