Kaytee 5-Pound Nut & Fruit Blend Wild Bird Food Review

I have been buying this product for many years. Over the past year, the ratio of "filler" has changed significantly. My husband and I used to joke about what to serve guests, how many nuts and seeds there are. Now it seems that there is a lot of filler, and tits throw it to the ground. I wouldn't mind if the price went down, but it keeps going up. I have bought 2 more bags to keep but I will be looking for a new supplier who will provide me with a better product. Such a shame.

This will bring all (well, lots) of birds into my garden, plus a few squirrels and a very shy flying squirrel (late at night). I put him in the feeding trough and almost immediately several finches attacked him. Birds almost always feast on it, so it does exactly what it's supposed to do. I use it to attract birds for wildlife photography so it does exactly that and they seem to love it. I will buy another bag when this one runs out.

I have always been happy with Kaytee bird products but this bag was full of dusty and old seeds and nuts. It even smelled old and musty. I thought it was just me - I filled the birdhouses - and nothing got touched or eaten. Nothing. Birds avoid these feeding sites. Birds love this mixture. I have many different visiting birds that have not visited any other brand/seed mix I have used before - I have Red-crested Woodpecker, Lesser Sapsucker/Woodpecker, Nuthatch, Chickadee, Sparrows, Chickadee, Wrens, Cardinals - they love it... looked fresh enough for a birdseed. My birds and squirrels LOVE this food. They raid my backyard every day, all day. When I first set up my feeders I tried different things to see what the wildlife preferred.
