Chandler Hiking Shoe for Boys by KEEN - Perfect for Outdoor Adventures Review

Last school year I bought 4 pairs of sneakers, maybe more, for my 5 year old son. And it was adidas, Nike, Reebok, Cat & Jack. I've tried many brands and some weren't cheap, but none lasted more than a month! Fingers fall apart, elastics tear etc. So I decided to try them and with daily use for 3 months they become strong! Will hold on to these forever. And will save me money in the long run if I buy a good pair and then go through many.

I felt a bit squeamish paying $50 for kids shoes but they were very durable so it was actually cheaper than buying cheap shoes. They are delivered quickly, fit as advertised and are amazing for both their really wide toe box and exceptional durability. My kids always outgrow Keen before they fall apart, which is amazing because they get tons of rough use and usually last at least a year. My 8 year old daughter loves the gag because it's quick and easy to set up and never comes off in the middle of the gym. Coral is also a great color. This shoe seemed well made and shaped like a foot. However, the arch was very high, too big, especially for a toddler. My 4 year old felt very uncomfortable. She said he drilled into her leg. Instead we have Peak Keen Notch. The toe box still gave her toes enough room to splay and the arch was much lower which was better for her growing legs. The Knotch Peaks were also more flexible throughout, including the outsole and upper of the shoe.

I didn't like that I had such a short window to return shoes. Children's shoes often have to wait over 45 days for size. I can't return it disappointed.

I like that we don't have to worry about the laces coming undone. Nice snug fit with rounded edges so a very sporty 5 year old would find it easy to wear!

We have bought this shoe several times. The toe box is roomy, especially across the width, so the toes aren't pinched. We have these on our repeating size radar for a kid who will destroy every shoe we buy while active outside. The only downside is that there aren't many pillows, but that can be compensated for with padded socks. These aren't running shoes, but they're good for everything else.

... unfortunately it's a bit smaller or fits "like a glove" which inevitably turns into "too small" too quickly, so they're going back or being exchanged.

Our family spent 5 nights camping and hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park. Our daughters (ages 8 and 9) received these shoes brand new. We rode it over 28 miles and were very happy. Good comfort, traction and appeal.

My family has wider feet, especially in some places. I've struggled with this my whole life and have worn a lot of loafers because of the shape. Keen is great in size and quality. I don't mind paying for these things. Recently, some Keens shoes are a bit inferior in width and quality (CNC), but not in this style. PLEASE please don't stop making quality shoes that FIT!

My daughter loves these shoes, she was disappointed at first that they didn't have the velcro closure pictured. She lived through it, loves them and says these are her fast shoes and she can go hiking too!

I love these shoes! When wet they dry quickly and my little one can walk around in them with ease. They are easy to put on and keep. This is our second pair.

Our almost 6 year old son is now wearing his fourth pair of these shoes. They are, true to Keene, a bit too big compared to the expected size. The first two pairs endured LOTS of abuse incredibly well - hiking, running, climbing. The third pair started to come apart where the sole meets the fabric on the side. Hoping it was just a fluke - we bought him a fourth pair anyway and will see if that happens again. He says they are more comfortable than the New Balance he previously wore.

We have two boys and we only buy KEEN shoes for them. These are her favourites! We have tried so many other brands and they are destroyed within a few weeks. Highly recommended!

Keane and some other shoe manufacturers recognize that shoes should be shaped like a foot, not clenched toes! My smart kid won't wear any other shoes.

The body of the shoe is good quality and durable, but the velcro broke in less than 3 months. Terribly disappointed in these sneakers.
