Better than expected, though it is true that modern battery operated electric clocks have improved hugely over the last years. Mainly because the drive mechanism keeps the hands in smooth motion rather than the old start-stop-restart pulse that lets momentum go to zero and restarting from zero is very energy costly. I purchased this clock for my bedroom and I love that the hands only illuminate (not the numbers) and that the brightness level can be adjusted. So far it seems to be keeping accurate time and maintaining it's battery life. Overall I like the clock, but feel it's overpriced given the build quality - it's made of thin plastic and very lightweight / flimsy feeling which makes me wonder about longevity.
