Kensington K64561US ComboSaver Combination Notebook Review

I use a Kensington lock on my MacBook when I go to the library or coffee shop. It's a more secure feeling knowing I have my laptop attached to the table if I need to go to the bathroom or whatever.

Hoping to take a break from carrying more keys I figured combination locks would be a smart move. Maybe. But not with Kensington K64561. After setting the combination, I struggled to lock my MacBook Pro, but I got my way in the end. At the end of the day, the problems started. For about 20 minutes I tried in vain to unlock it - but somehow the lock got stuck. It's not that the code has changed, but that it's stuck and won't resolve. I was afraid to order this lock after reading all the reviews about how bad this product is. worked and changed the combination. Should deter any theft that might otherwise occur. The cable seems very strong and the lock threads easily through the hole. I prefer this to a lock with a key because losing the key is a very big problem.

A lot of people seem to have trouble interpreting the international style symbolic instructions that come with this lock, but with a little thought and care I was able to reset the combination and use the lock with no problem. I think it's in the interest of IKEA style wordless instructions that they undermined their product. Here's what I think happened when I tried to reset the code: I set the combo to the preset 0000, then inserted the special reset tool and rotated it, then entered the new code, then rotated the tool back.
