Perfect for upgrading

This SSD is perfect for bringing the modern luxury of fast boot speeds to older devices (no wonder, speeds are still limited by IDE and hardware though). also extended the battery life by about an hour. I definitely plan to buy more, just wish the prices were more in line with SATA drives.

Pros
  • Always liked
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Great for your G4 Mac Mini

My brother still uses a trusty Mac Mini G4 and some of his (OEM!) hard drives have finally failed. I replaced them with this SSD as the G4 used PATA drives and after dusting and replacing the clock battery they are fine again and maybe even better than new. The fast boot you expect from an SSD. 3 weeks installed, no complaints yet.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • I won't say anything

Big. Really brought my old laptop back to life.

Installed this on my 7 year old laptop and it gave it a whole new life. Everything done much faster. At first I didn't think he would recognize it, but he did and had no problems. Would recommend to anyone who has thought about it. Great improvement for the money. The best value for money for any computer right now is an SSD.

Pros
  • Looking forward to
Cons
  • Neutral

Great for old Inspiron 6000

I also upgraded an OLD Inspiron 6000; it worked great. For example it comes with an IDE and fits without an adapter which may not work/fit. A bit pricey but I think there is only one brand that comes with an IDE and I don't think they mention the Inspiron 6000.

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • No mold required

Returned. terrible product.

Overheat and restart the onboard controller. If you only do small reads and writes, you'll probably be fine. But I couldn't install Windows 95 on it just to run CAD management software on it. It will overheat and restart, stopping data transfer.

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • Protection

Big help for a 14 year old Dell laptop!

Wanted to use a 14 year old Dell Latitude 810C as a home server. The laptop came with Windows 2000 and since Windows XP is a thing of the past I installed an unused copy of Windows 7 Home 32 bit but the laptop performed poorly and was below usability level. Bought and installed this SSD drive and now the old laptop is awake enough to run and run the Windows 7 Home operating system. It was a cost effective solution to making something usable out of an old laptop rather than collecting dust IE…

Pros
  • A dream come true

Big performance boost for a 2005 Compaq Presario M2000

My 2005 Windows XP Compaq Presario M2000 laptop was slow and annoying with its 40 GB (IDE/ATA) 5400 rpm hard drive constantly min. Even with a 1 .5GHz Intel Celeron processor and 500MB RAM on XP it felt almost unusable, even with antivirus disabled, system restore disabled and insanely fast wireless internet connection. But instead of giving up on Compaq, I installed a 32GB KingSpec SSD and the results after a few days were AMAZING. I first cloned a Windows XP hard drive to an SSD using the…

New Life for an Old Dell Inspiron Laptop

I've repurposed an old Dell laptop as a file, cloud and VPN server. After 5 years of 24/7 operation, the original IDE hard drive finally failed. Found this IDE/PATA SSD as a cheaper replacement. Reinstalled Linux Lubuntu, OpenSSH and OpenVPN and then brought my laptop back to the server. So far, so good! .This SSD has been running non-stop 24 hours a day, 7 days a week since 2016!

Pros
  • Stable Test Results
Cons
  • Secret
