Whilst this kettle seems easy to use and the quality of the coffee is good I would definitely recommend washing it several times and running it through several 'pots' of water leave a plastic taste in the coffee. It took 8 "pots" of water and 2 "clean" cycles, but soaking the plastic water container in baking soda/water helped remove the plastic taste from the coffee. Don't let the water sit overnight either, I stopped doing this and it helped get rid of the chemical taste. Very disappointed…

We bought this coffee maker because of the removable water tank. We liked that it can be filled with filtered water from the fridge. In addition, coffee grounds have no chance of getting into the water tank, which is great since our manufacturer cuisinart placed the coffee too close to the water supply and contaminated the tank. A strong chemical smell came out immediately upon unpacking. Three days later it's still outgassing. This smell comes from the gray plastic. I washed the entire surface 2 times but that didn't help much. Black and clear plastic parts are ok. It is not clear if the outgassing of the gray (housing) plastic is occurring or if it is the evaporation of a mold release agent for the plastic mold.
