I thought the clay was a gooey mess too until I let it air dry some and then made the items. It is wet so it wnt dry out. Open the packages and let air dry it some then mold it. Awesome craft.

My kids, 6 and 9, enjoyed doing this very much. My 9 old was able to do this all by herself with little to no help from me. Cute creations, even I got into the action and had lots of fun doing it.

Purchased as a gift for my daughter. We both had a great time working together to create these "cakes”. Would recommend.

Fun gift for creative kids. One of the clay bags was very hard, child was sad she wouldn't be able to use it but I put it in a ziploc bag, poked tiny holes and submerged it in very hot water for a few minutes, then I kneaded it out of the bag, repeated the process until it was nice and soft.

Christmas present for 7year old. Cute cast of food characters. A little difficult to handle air clay (7yr old lives Play-Doh and takes ceramics, so is familiar with various forms of clay). Once you get used to it, air clay becomes a little easier. The designs surely helped 7yr old encourage to complete.

Got for my 5 year old after she was jealous of the other klutz kit I got for her brother.The instructions are clear, but definitely suited to older kids or teens. even though we kinda just "did our own thing” in the end, it was so fun. Only disappointment was that one of the pink clay packets was mostly dried up and unusable.

Gave this to my patient 7 detail oriented year old for Christmas. This is a great step up from playdoh and the creations dry really nicely. I will say that to achieve the desired result from the clay, you do need to follow the instructions carefully and be super patient. It took some work getting used to the consistency of the dough (it’s a little on the sticky side but that tapers off with a lot of kneading.) Also we used some coconut oil on our work surface to keep the thinner pieces of clay…

I bought it to introduce some new activity to the oldest boy that I take care.He likes arts and crafts (so do I).We both had so much fun.It's easy to use, but not so easy to make it looks like the same as in the pictures. That's fine, we could improve our creativity!Anyways, we were able to start our new "business" :)

This was a gift for my sister and she loved it! It came in nice condition and the pictures of the things you can make are so cute! I don’t think she’s tried to use it yet, so I don’t know how easy it is to use or if it works, but the box and everything was cute!

A full day of fun for a 10 & 11 year old. Absolutely adorable & it kept them engaged & busy! I’ll buy more of these! That's my review.

This was an awesome craft. My 10 and 7 yr olds played with this together without needing my instruction or supervision. It is so much fun and so cute you'll probably want to play with the kids anyway, as I did! The kit doesn't come with a lot of clay, but you can find refills for it (which i had to get because they wanted more). The eyes are adorable but unfortunately they aren't as easy to find. I might just end up buying this kit again! We all loved it!Edit: i had ordered 2mm flat back pearls

got this set for my children, who love food, especially desserts (who doesnt?). They've spent many afternoons completely unsupervised, just building their cakes and desserts. I cannot recommend this kit highly enough- Klutz makes incredibly compelling and delightful kits that I always look forward to getting for my kids and their friends. This will bring a smile to your faces, and i highly recommend it.

We received this as a gift and then gave as a gift. Better for an older child - 5 or 6, since the dough is pretty stretchy and messy. A little challenging to use. A fun activity to do w your child.

This was my 8 year old daughters favorite gift for Christmas! The book is awesome and the characters are adorable. I only gave 4 stars because it’s not "clay”. I would compare is more to a sticky mousse that hardens to rubber. With that being said, once she learned how to work it, my daughter (and I!) loved it. The consistency made it easy to spread with the tools on the styrofoam pieces for shape. Super cute and great gift idea for 7-9 year olds!

Got this for my 10yr old daughter. She loved it! Was able to make several fun pieces with easy step by step instructions. She also had leftover pieces so she made a few extra pieces with her sis.

Wonderful Christmas gift for my 8 year old daughter! The "clay” is a really cool foam-like material. Not messy at all and easy to work with! My daughter was able to create some really cool little pieces that looked just like the box shows, with zero adult assistance! Highly recommend!

Great concept and lots of adorable pieces. There is a varied assortment of decorations, sprinkles, baking accessories (cake stand, bakery box, etc.) HOWEVER, the first time we received this set, the air dry "clay” was already dried up and fell apart like styrofoam. When we received our replacement, the consistency of the air dry "clay” was so sticky and so difficult to work with (think super wet dough or melted marshmallow) that my six-year-old daughter could never quite manage to complete any…

I bought this for my eight year old daughter and she LOVED IT! It is easy to use and she made lots of cute things. Only had a problem with one of the packages of clay it was a little sticky but after kneading the clay and letting it sit out on the table for a little bit, the clay was less sticky and easier to work with.

My daughter got this for her 6th birthday and has spent many hours over a period of several days working on the projects in the book. They are so cute, and she continues to play with the little bakery items after she makes them. She has needed adult help on some of them, but she has done others independently. I definitely plan on getting this as a gift for other children.

My five-year-old enjoyed this activity very much. I bought another kit as a refill to continue the fun. I have also purchased this as a holiday gift for my nieces (ages 7 and 8). The clay arrived soft and the book quality is good. Definitely recommend this product!
