I tried four different links - none of them had a positive latch - they closed but with a simple finger press they reopened with no real effort. an effort. I am converting my bike to 10 speed and KMC Quick Link makes chain installation very easy. The Shimano chain comes with a pin that needs to be driven in with a chain tool, it's not that heavy but the quick link is definitely a lot easier and this particular quick link can be reused.
