DO NOT BUY - Gear Components

I tried four different links - none of them had a positive latch - they closed but with a simple finger press they reopened with no real effort. an effort. I would use it to get home if the chain breaks during the trip, but DO NOT use it as a regular master link for your chain. Not worth buying them, they're just good for the trash.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities

  • Something different

BROKEN UNDER 100 MILES

My fast link broke while starting from a stop at an intersection. It vanished into thin air, justifying its name. When it broke, it severely bent one of the teeth on my front gear, rendering it unusable. The fast link had less than 100 miles and never opened. I'm a heavy rider but I've used Shimano quick links for THOUSANDS of miles in tougher conditions with no issues. Pay a little more for a Shimano or SRAM link so you don't have to pay LOTS more to fix the damaged components.

  • Exorbitant price

Barely fit KMC 8 speed chain

They hardly fit my KMC Z51 8 speed chain. It needs to be about 1mm longer to fit properly. I went for a horseback ride and one of my fast links broke after about 5 miles. I spent about an hour fitting it to my chain but it didn't work. As a result, I did not use them and completely abandoned the missing links. Edit: The listing was wrong and it was stated to fit an 8 speed chain. Come to find out it was only for 10 speed so I couldn't install it properly. Not the products fault so I changed the

Works great if you have the right tools

I installed a new KMC chain on my road bike in June. The included link worked perfectly, as did the one originally included in the chain. Squeeze them and they open and close easily. It seems that the 'newbies' were redesigned to create a market for the KMC missing link closing tool. I needed to replace a twisted link in my chain and thought I would do it with another missing link. I ordered a 6 pack. There was no way that two strong men and a boy could force the connection to close. After…

Take some spares with you

They are essential for those who drive unaccompanied. Does the chain break? Take out the broken link and paste one of these in its place. No fuss, no mess, no swearing. In 10-speed chains, the SRAM Power Link can't really be reused - once opened, you have to throw it away and replace it. Of course, you can ignore this advice and you'll probably be fine. But if you do decide to do it, then have a few on hand in case the SRAM warning wasn't just a veiled attempt to gain access to your wallet.…

Not sure if this is genuine KMC product fits loosely

I bought this card and none of the ones in the package fit. I have used SRAM and other brands successfully in the past. You usually have to pull gently to get the chain's quick link in position. They were so loose on the chain you could hear them going through the front chainring and rear drivetrain. Just to be sure I took the links to the local bike shop I use and had them try it on some 10 speed chains. Didn't ride anything: KMC, Shimano, nothing. All were weakened. Not sure if KMC is having…

Genuine KMC Perfect for Shimano XT CN-HG95 10 speed chain Super Easy Install

I am converting my bike to 10 speed and KMC Quick Link makes chain installation very easy. The Shimano chain comes with a pin that needs to be driven in with a chain tool, it's not that heavy but the quick link is definitely a lot easier and this particular quick link can be reused. The quick connect also makes it easy to remove the chain if needed. If you want to loosen the quick release, you can easily do that with the Park Tool MLP 1.2 Master Link Pliers, and this tool can be used to open…
