Cause ticking noise

I use this on my Ducati Monster 696. I have used this in the past and it has worked fine before. However, after completing the oil change and changing the oil filter on the K&N, I noticed a loud ticking/clicking at idle and idle. I wasn't sure if it was the new oil I was using or the filter. I decided to swap out the old filter (OEM by Ducati) for a sample and the noise went away. Strange because I've never had a problem with this K&N filter. design flaw. Not suitable for K1600.

This filter was advertised on the K&N website as a replacement part for the BMW K1600GTL, however the nut on the end of the filter interferes with the shifter preventing the shifter from moving. Because the switch must be removed to install the filter, this design flaw only became apparent after the filter was installed. I ended up cutting off the nut with a hacksaw. Apparently this is common knowledge, but unfortunately I didn't think to check the forums before buying. I have asked K&N to stop

Poor product on Motorcycles and Power Sports

I ordered this for a 2010 Ducati 848. I think these guys have serious quality control issues with these filters. The thread on the filter I received did not match my bike. I had to force the filter into a thread on my bike and I tightened it very tight to prevent leakage. I think I made a big mistake as I don't know if I messed up the threads on my bike or not. I won't find out until the next oil change. I have used several WIX oil filters on recent oil changes and have never had a problem. I…

I used the KN-153 the last few times I changed the Ducati oil and filter. Although this time the correct part number is stamped on the side, the internal geometry is different and the threads are countersunk much deeper. There will be no threads on my bike. Aside from the obvious difference when looking at the open end of the filter, this bad new filter is labeled 'Made in Thailand'. Great option for 2007 Ducati GT1000 Sportclassic

Excellent fit. Reading the reviews it seems like K&N had some quality control issues when they didn't thread very well a few years ago. It appears to have been a one off issue as it was identical to the Ducati OEM filter. Easy installation with a nut built in at the end. I had some trouble removing the old K&N filter as the nut ended up being too soft and starting to separate from the wrench. DO NOT BUY! THESE FILTERS ARE WASTE AND WILL DAMAGE YOUR BIKE!

I am a car dealer and bought one of these for my personal 08 Ducati 1098 and everything seemed fine until after less than 100 miles the filter removed the threads from the nipple on the engine and it all drained the engine oil during the ride through the entire bike. Upon closer inspection, the filter only caught 1 thread and actually pulled that single thread off the bike!
