Stopping issue fixed

My Craftsman LT2000 rake stalled after 30 minutes of operation. The engine (B&S 19.5 hp) was humming, the new carburettor fixed it. But this fuel filter solved the stopping problem.

Pros
  • Kohler genuine part
Cons
  • When in doubt

Kohler quality fuel filter

At first glance it looks good and is easy to install. Warning: hose clamps are not included and I like to use new clamps, especially if they are spring steel and not the kind you see on heater hoses.

Pros
  • Compatible with fuels containing more than 10 percent ethanol
Cons
  • Safety

Easy installation, works as advertised.

Thought my 46 inch mower with Kohler in-line fuel filter might have been damaged because the engine stopped working after starting. Like he didn't get any gas. I replaced the filter which is snap mounted. Just make sure you have a bucket to catch the gas when you disconnect the end of the filter from the hose. That didn't solve my problem (it was a bad ignition switch) , but after 6 years it doesn't hurt to change the filter every now and then

Pros
  • In-line filter
Cons
  • Good but not great

Good filter but small Kohler engines don't like hot work

Installed on my Craftsman tractor 917.272481 with Kohler CV893 engine. With the previous CarQuest filter, my tractor would stall at anything but a moderate speed, which was very annoying as there were a lot of little "hills" on my lawn. After installing this filter, my tractor doesn't stall as long, but it still stalls on turns from time to time. In my experience, Kohlers have never handled temperatures above 75-80F (vapor lock) so I don't blame the filter. Even when my tractor was new, it…

Pros
  • 75 micron with 3/16" and 1/4" fuel lines ID
Cons
  • Sparse instructions
