Although there were no instructions on how to fit it I was able to do it. You only had to look inside the tank to understand it. I didn't need any tools, but there was no lock (screwed on to tighten from the inside) to act as a nut. to tighten it. So...I used an existing one repairing an old one that broke (18 years in this house; the plastic was worn). I think no harm, no foul. TURN THE NUT COUNTER-CLOCKWISE TO TIGHTEN AND CLOCKWISE TO REMOVE, unlike regular nuts! towards normal nuts. The nut will never engage the bolt if you try to tighten it by turning it clockwise, the direction you turn a regular nut to tighten it. Tank #K-4519 Toilet model #K-3516 (see plumpingsupply(dot)com/kohler-toilets for part and model numbers) and that part number is listed as the current replacement (K-GP30324-CP) I have two in chrome and received one in K-GP30324-BRZ (in one of the bathrooms we changed the plumbing to bronze = BRZ).
