Not recommended

I tried 4 different pieces of wood and couldn't find a single dowel that looked good and didn't warp. They can be used, but you will need more glue and sawdust to fill them.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Only available in black

Attention: You also need a special tool to cut the plugs!

Just bought not knowing it also requires special tools. This attachment is only sold as a set (head and attachment) so DO NOT purchase the attachment separately (like I did) unless you already have the attachment. Other attachments (for XL and smaller plugs) are sold separately and all three fit the same attachment.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Very good with a fast drill

Most of the tutorials and how-to videos I've watched for cutting pocket hole plugs say that faster drills and slower feed rates result in cleaner cuts. They stress the importance of corded drills, not cordless ones. So I looked for the best drill I could find for the job. I've found that corded drills aren't necessarily faster than battery-powered ones. However, the fastest drill I could find, the Bosch GBM 6 RE, is truly corded. This picture shows my Kreg KPHJ 720 Pro Jig Combination Machine…
