Working on 2WD Tacoma 2000

The shocks worked great on a 2000 Tacoma 5 pin 2WD. Easy to replace, although you'll need a bottle jack or a way to push it up so you can tighten the bolts.

Pros
  • Test for one year
Cons
  • May I add

Very good shock absorbers fit spares

I have mounted them on the front of two other small pickups and have had no problems. They work well, improve handling and steering, braking etc and hold up well to basic 4x4 and truck use. They are actually still made in Japan and are of very good quality. This is just a shock so order 2!

Pros
  • sequins
Cons
  • almost never

Decent replacement, obviously no performance or race.

Easy replacement on my Toyota Tacoma. My service issues were resolved after 200,000 miles. On my truck you can remove that without doing anything to the springs, it slides out nicely from underneath. It took about 45 minutes from start to finish to exchange both sides.

Cons
  • Doubt

They're tough for spares

As one reviewer said, they're very tough. The bumpy road stays bumpy. It takes a lot of weight to compress them, I used safety wire to keep them compressed to install them. I had an unbalanced wheel and my truck bounced when I went over 55 mph. I recently turned on a curbside speed alert that told me I was driving at 78th speed.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • For retirees

Really Stiff Shocks

They're really stiff for a '98 2-door Tacoma. Shrinking her was a real pain. I couldn't even do it with a bottle jack, I had to use my full body weight and then connect the zip ties around the perimeter. Total PITA. These are good shocks, but probably better suited to a heavier truck than a small 2-door Tacoma. I think they will work better and make for a smoother ride. Pros
  • Nice
Cons
  • Good, but not great

Not quite what I was hoping for

My Toyota 93 pickup has heavy suspension. I don't know if they're all like that, but this one rides hard. These shocks didn't help to tame him. Hard and rough ride on bumpy asphalt and gentle give at higher speeds. I don't know which other dampers would be better. I usually prefer the Koni, but I couldn't find one to match this car. I have them on all 4 corners and have about 3000 miles on them.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly dented

1991 Toyota Pickup, Base Model 22re, Factory Wheels & Tires

I just put two of these shocks on the front of my little truck and it has made a world of difference to the ride. I will say the two I took off were completely burned out as they were factory and the truck had 282,000 miles on the odometer. Can't say anything about durability, let's see how they hold up. I installed them myself in the driveway, put the truck on stands, removed the wheels, removed the old shocks, reinstalled the top of the shock and used a bottle. Jack to compress the shock…
