Good for the price, seems fairly accurate

I have no way of calibrating or testing this unit but it seems reasonably accurate. Compared to my phone's light meter, the numbers are relatively close (of the same order of magnitude, at least) and I would trust this device more than the phone's light meter. connected to the meter by a piece of rubber or the like, or the back cover has slipped off. Something that kept it with the device so you didn't have to wear/keep an eye on it when using the meter. Comparing the light levels in different…

Range and OL errors are answered below.

I use this to estimate the lighting of my orchid stands that I grow under neon lights. I'm giving 4 stars considering the price and the fact that I only need a rough measurement. I hope this review answers questions not covered in the guide. An OL error message means that the light intensity you are trying to measure is out of range. For this reason, the device defaults to Auto (Range) at startup. For example, if you try to measure a light intensity of 18,000 fc but your range is set to 2000…

INACCURACY Meter - Varies greatly between area

UPDATE: I discovered a serious inaccuracy when I first started using this meter to measure lights at various distances. Different measuring ranges give completely different results. With the device in a fixed position next to the lamp, it showed 1850 x 10 (18500 lux). When I change the area it is 148 x 100 (14800 lux). The difference is more than 25%, which is totally unacceptable! This is a very repeatable behavior. So the meter is complete junk. This is a common mistake with cheap multimeters
