This lens is amazing. With the soft focus (low f-number) you can create very abstract, painterly images, which also gives a glowing effect. Or you can take really sharp pictures with a higher f-number. It takes practice and a steady hand (or a tripod). It's a fully manual focus lens, so you'll need practice, but it didn't take me long to get the hang of it. They sent the lens in a few days as promised. And this lens is sold out or in stock in most photo stores! LOVE IT!

First: DO NOT buy this lens if you are looking for a super fast portrait lens. Despite being an f1.6 lens, it can't (and isn't designed to) take very sharp photos wide open. The lens eventually becomes very sharp at f5.6 and below and can be used as a portrait lens. Why you should buy this lens: This lens produces a velvety and magical bokeh, unlike what you've seen at f2 and f2.8. As such, this is one of my favorite lenses when I need magical velvety bokeh, especially during the holiday season
