I was so excited when I received it today to use in a floor lamp and get an extra socket for other devices! Unfortunately, the tension chain on this product is *only* designed for vertical tension WHEN THE LIGHT IS POINTED DOWN (e.g. ceiling mounted). Aside from the issues others have mentioned when using it in a horizontal (wall) position, even when mounted vertically with the bulb up (like a table or floor lamp) the pull chain still doesn't work. is a cheap way to add a pull chain to the lamp and also add 2 ungrounded sockets for chargers or whatever. My only warning about the product is that the ball at the end of the pull chain is pretty strong and the pull mechanism is very springy. I'm worried that a cord that's pulled too tight will come back and crack the bulb. .So edit the review to add: Yes indeed if you pull the cord it comes back pretty quickly and breaks the Cree LED bulb.
