Works well but expensive.

I used these as a safety measure to switch the power to tankless water heaters and they work fine for that but are expensive.

Pros
  • High marks for tester support and durability
Cons
  • weak

Robust switch suitable for motors

I wasn't sure if it was for switching motors but the back of the switch says it can be used for motors. I think it said 2HP max.

Pros
  • Stable test results
Cons
  • old

Great quality switch

The Leviton 30A 220V Switch is just what I needed as the power switch on my two electric water heaters. We've been using it for a few months with no problems.

Pros
  • Several competitors

Unfortunately it arrived without one of the screws

Unfortunately it arrived without one of the screws. I've tried to attach it, but there's no way the screw can catch on the nut that comes with it. Nice looking, well made device.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

High Quality Heavy Duty Switch

My HVAC unit switch went off. I was told I needed a more powerful switch so I bought this and it seems to have helped. Thank goodness it was easy to fix my air conditioning and heating not working when the temperature got extreme.

Pros
  • Good Value
Cons
  • Interval

Works with my 40 gallon 220v electric water heater

After I replaced my [do it yourself installation] water heater, a licensed plumber informed me that the code now reads a switch next to the water heater requires. This switch met that requirement (IMO). If you plan to do something yourself, just read the code that defines "next to the water heater". I can not answer that.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Reliable

Well made and easy to install.

I bought this specifically to provide a simple switch for some 220v tools and other things in my workshop. I installed one to wire my fountain pump in my building that is remotely connected to the fountain house. I almost never have to turn it off, but I wanted to be able to use it during hibernation or maintenance. once. This switch feels well made and durable. Easy installation and works well.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Out of fashion

This is a 2 pole switch

I installed this on my solar water heater to turn ON/OFF EVERY PIN of the 240 volt backup circuit, a function it performs as expected. (I live in Arizona, where so much heat builds up during the day that a seasonal backup is rarely needed, so having it toggleable is handy.) Whoever said it was a three-position switch most likely has the wrong one item delivered. It should be added that turning the water heater backup element on or off is not a big deal for the switch as due to its intermittent,

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Do not loosen line or load screws.

Loosening the screws too much will break the switch. From the factory they are completely open. Even if they seem stuck, shake or wiggle them, but don't loosen the bolts or the nut will fall off. The switch housing is riveted and glued, the nut for tightening is not accessible. It spins 360° when free and has an offset bore that makes retuning a nightmare; I found it impossible. This is the only way the switch can be wired. Aside from this glaring flaw, the switch looks well made. It's durable…

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
