Loosening the screws too much will break the switch. From the factory they are completely open. Even if they seem stuck, shake or wiggle them, but don't loosen the bolts or the nut will fall off. The switch housing is riveted and glued, the nut for tightening is not accessible. It spins 360° when free and has an offset bore that makes retuning a nightmare; I found it impossible. This is the only way the switch can be wired. Aside from this glaring flaw, the switch looks well made. It's durable and a good double pole switch. I really couldn't see it in action because my mistake in loosening a stuck screw caused it to self-destruct. UPDATE: Woman (who loves puzzles) with small hands used a bent paper clip and screwdriver and got them back in about an hour. on the screw. Installed now and works great.
