2-Pack Rear Liftgate Hatch Tailgate SG314030 Gas Springs Shocks for Jeep Grand Cherokee 1999-2004 (4048, 4699, 4528) Review

I fitted them to my Jeep in December 2019 and they have been working great until this morning. They denied it outright on September 14, 2020. Yesterday they worked fine but they refused without warning.

DO NOT BUY! They are made in China and are very difficult to install, even after watching the tutorial video it actually requires a second person to install them properly. But I guarantee you will break the screw heads.

Easy to install but they require a torx tool (can't remember size) and they will break if you use the wrong size. I picked up a new rack from an auto parts store to make sure I had the right size sprocket. Then 5 minutes to change.

I have replaced the broken ones that were completely out of service. This is the third set on my 2002 Grand Cherokee. They were very strong and I had a hard time putting them on by myself. Be careful when you put them on they will hit you on the head if you are not careful. they are so strong. Good buy and good value for money.

Funktioniert bisher super! The tailgate now almost looks with them. Every video I've seen of the installation suggested installing the bottom first and then the top, but I've found the complete opposite works better. I actually removed the top nut and bolt on one of them and had to rethread the nut and thread the bolt through the die to complete the installation. Worked much better for me by installing the top first and then the bottom. Definitely a job for two!

Can't comment on their durability yet but I installed them today January 27th 2020. Paying in installments was pretty easy. It would definitely help if someone held the hatch open for me. But since I was alone I used a vise on the old post to hold the hatch open while working on the right side, much easier to unscrew the top from the post itself and screw it into the original bracket and then unscrew it. the bottom torx screw to remove the old rod.
