Not sure when ordering if they would work for a line-in signal, but I used them to get unbalanced line-in audio from the tape output of a vintage receiver play via about 20-30 foot Cat5e cable to an additional audio input panel. Works well with no noticeable hum despite the Cat5e running fairly close to high voltage power lines.

I used this balun set for a value driven customer to get the sound from my Cat5e outdoor TV back to my outdoor speaker amp. Sound quality was solid, with little hiss in the speaker when no sound was playing. In general, the customer was satisfied with the result. I would use it again for this type of application and budget.

They work and work well. I was concerned because I had about 100 feet of Category 5e cable to carry the signal from the Revain Alexa to the amp. Other cheap converters had all sorts of noise and I decided the signal was too weak. I decided to try them out before pre-amping and they seem to be working great. Even with a dead tone, there is no hum. Excellent ground loop isolation or impedance matching. Regardless of the differences from others, they work well.

How the hell do these things work and why didn't I get them sooner? Is analog audio still audio and only transmitted over Cat5 cables? Does the Cat 5 twisted pair effect prevent noise from entering? I'm just blown away by how clear and crisp the sound is, even from over a hundred feet away. The same distance traveled with a standard Belden audio cable isn't nearly as clean. I bought these audio extenders via Category 5 adapters so I can connect the projector to a DeWalt radio and use it long distances to have the radio close to me while watching movies can. In the future I will be running a long cable to my surround sound system, but it will do me good to watch movies outside. I don't think the sound will be as good as it was with the short cable, but I didn't notice any change in quality compared to the 5 foot short cable I used previously. They have a 3.5mm jack
