Good Tire Winch - Outdoor Accessory

Product Exactly As Shown. You will need to provide your own roller pin that goes through the shaft and some sort of slotted crank handle to wind up the winch. The spare tire stayed in place through 80 miles of freeway and rough forest trails. Reviewers who say their winches turned didn't need to have the tire pressed firmly against the trailer frame.

Easy installation. in External Accessories

I needed a spare wheel holder for my 1970 Airstream conversion project. This winch/spare is perfect for a front hitch with an extra cross channel and a simple extension. I designed it to use the same speed button as my stabilizers. I see some reviews complaining about a gradual lowering. To prevent this I add a locking pin on the stock extension. The first picture shows a shaft lock installed to prevent accidental sinking.

Worth a Try - Tow & Winch Item

Based on this review I bought this from stock which was listed in very good condition. Received it today, tested it and found that this particular extension retracts correctly. Pulled the cable and was able to lengthen it without twisting it. Had a 50 lb weight attached to it and it wouldn't support the weight. I've never mounted it under my trailer since a 17.5" tire and rim weighs about 100 pounds. It may or may not be a good product. Based on what I bought, this is the impression it made on…

Totally useless without a pin

Why would a company make a product and throw away the component that actually makes it work? It's like building a car but forcing customers to buy their own steering wheel. Was it because of a few cents more that would have cost Lippert? Who knows. Thing is, now I have to find a way to get this working with Lippert's coordinating arm, I'll spend more gas going to the hardware store to find something to make this work than it would cost Lippert, just about anything necessary spare parts to…

For towing devices and winches

In general, I have to say that this is a pretty good device. It is stronger than OEM and fits perfectly into your existing mount. However! My crank requires a pin to raise and lower the tire. As you can see from the photo it doesn't have a pin so you'll have to find another way to raise and lower it or make your own pin. As for why the manufacturer doesn't supply it I have no idea, but it's a bad move on their part. I would have sent it back but when I got to the installation it was too late…

But good winds.

Looks like a good winch as it works well now that it is installed. I don't know if it will weaken over time but I hope not. Remember that this element is very difficult to install on a camper that is not designed for it. I'm very handy but it took me 2 full days to install this under my 5th Forrest River handlebar. The main problem is that the height of the winch exceeds the height of most tires. This makes it difficult to wrap the tire under the RV floor without the tire/wheel falling onto the

Make a bracket to hold the hoop.

The winch works well but can cause the tire to fall off or simply spin. when we see it, we turn it back. We've had this problem multiple times. but if we don't, the tire will hit the parking lock in the parking lot, SNAP. We have a saddle tire 235-80r16. New tire winch and winch fitted - tire was tensioned and in top position. After an hour of driving, the winch rope - the tire fell down, the parking block hit the tire and the rope snapped. Grrrrr. I also blame RV manufacturers for not…
