The alternative was very expensive

This puller was used to remove the damper roller on a Ford Taurus. The factory tool cost 180.00 at the best price. It did the trick for a sixth of the price. It was affordable and worked very well. I'm happy!

Pros
  • Hands Free
Cons
  • No Power

Harmonic Balancer Puller

Excellent for pulling the crankshaft pulley when it is stuck and you don't want to damage the timing belt covers. Mandatory, but note that the screws supplied with the puller are for US vehicles, not foreign ones. You'll need a pair of 3-inch #10 screws. But overall, it does the job.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Fairly good

I was a little scared - Harmonic Balancers

I pulled my Harmonic Balancer on my Impala '96 ss. Any good mechanic will tell you to thread the bolt 100% the full width of the HB. That's exactly what I did. after I started pulling the HB, all the bolts flew out of the HB! I thought I might have messed up my HB, but when I looked at the three screws, all three were completely ripped off and deformed. The quality of the screws is not high enough for some voltages.

Works great but be careful using it as intended

Have used it 6 times already It worked great but I didn't think about it last time and I think I got it wrong used. I ended up bending one of the bolts. There is a size that fits a Toyota/Lexus Harmonic Balancer car (crank disc) and for these I need to find new bolts to continue using them. The tapered cap on the main thread center screw also doesn't seem to lock as securely as it did in the beginning - after that last use. But I think it will continue to work. The pulley on this latest car is…

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Negative experience

Worked great to remove my Harmonic Balancer

is available Works great. I just used this to very easily remove the harmonic balancer on my 5.8L Ford engine in my '95 Bronco. The two screws designed for the specific threads in my Ford balancer threaded easily into the balancer and suffered no deformation or breakage, so some had trouble removing the balancer. The center bolt with rotating cone at the end left the crankshaft threaded hole in perfect condition. Make sure the heads of the leveling screws are against the flat side of the puller
