Not a bad concept, but room for improvement

The overall concept works very well. However, there is a lot of room for improvement. Firstly, I really wish they included screws to attach the plate to the engine block. Instead I had to put in new exhaust manifold studs, then dig up some washers (the plate isn't thick enough to easily fit the manifold nuts onto the studs), tighten them with the exhaust manifold nuts, remove the nuts (which will eventually pull the studs out as well) and then remove the nuts from the studs. Other drills had to

Exceptional product

This is an exceptional product! I used it to drill out a broken header bolt on a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 hemi. I've tried welding and unscrewing the nut to the end but that has failed multiple times. but that also failed. The only thing that helped was using this guide to precisely drill out the remaining, broken bolt. I've read other reviews about the bits included in this set breaking. The key to keeping the drill and material cool is the spotting oil and sticking to 5-8 second drill…

Good value for Manifolds and Parts

I ordered this after chipping off a slight exit to the 5.4 exhaust manifold from the driver's side rear bottom. Cleaned the block and mounted block, could not drill the drill bit from the kit because the hardened steel broke easily. Removed the block and spent the morning using a dremel with abrasive, diamond and carbide bits. Barely gotten anywhere was ready to give up, then decided to use a dremel carbide drill bit to cut cement grout, it worked wonders, repaired the damage in 5 minutes with…

Get more bits AND KITS

I don't check what I buy until I use it so it took a while. works fine for the design but I recommend buying extra bits. My buddy used this on his 2003 5.4 F-150 last week and said it works great. In the past I've trimmed the legs to make them shorter, removed the motor mount, and raised the motor slightly to get a better drilling angle. I have 3 of these motors my dad has 2 and my brother has 2 not to mention a lot of people i know with them so they have a lot of uses. Seems to be very well…

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Quality

I had an exhaust leak due to a broken bolt to cylinder #1 (passenger side foremost cylinder) for 5.4 liter F150. I was very skeptical that this product would work, but I really didn't want to remove the head either, so I decided to give it a try. The jig was assembled very quickly, which I knew would be the easy part. I had to take 90gr. Drill to get into space and had to cut off the back of one of the drills to get there. I couldn't see what I was doing, the space was so tight I had to fill in
