The first disadvantage is that the bowls do not screw tightly into the holders. It's like trying to work with a stripped screw and bolt. You make maybe one and a half turns and then it just won't screw any further. Well, for three BIG blue and gold macaws, that's just not going to happen! I wanted a bowl they couldn't take off and throw in their cages. It took Gandhi about ten minutes to unscrew the bowl from the mount. I was looking for a stainless steel case for a game stand I made and couldn't find anything other than this one. Bolts through perch. I ordered one to try. The size is just right for my Hawk Head, but instead of removing the hardware I just drilled a hole in the end of the perch and screwed a corner bar right in. This works great and doesn't take up space on the perch. I just ordered another one for the other end of the pole. I can't tell what a big bird will do with it as I've never had one so
