This is a solid, well-made caliper.

I use this caliper regularly for reloading and other household chores. It is well made and durable. When I got this caliper I got rid of the digital caliper I was using. I have much more confidence in a mechanical device where I can actually zero and then view the scale trace while taking a reading. I have checked the accuracy and am sure it suits my needs. I highly recommend this device.

Cons

Works perfectly. As expected.

The numbers are clearly visible on the dial and on the steel. I've only used it a few times since I got it, but the zero remains more accurate than any pair of electronic calipers I've used. So far the sliding action is a little tight but hopefully it will get smoother as I use it more. The plastic coating on the dial was slightly worn when it arrived, so as a warning, it's possible it can rub slightly. . However, if you keep it when you're not using it, you should be fine.

Pros
  • Test, measure and check
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for the elderly

I hope mine was just defective and this isn't an issue of the full production cycle. The problem is that when you close the calipers the needle sometimes goes well past zero, but opening and closing again brings it back to zero. The dial hand also moved counterclockwise very slowly when closed at 0.000 inches and back at -0.085 inches. While this can easily be fixed by…
