One of these was needed for the door because the previous mailbox let in a lot of noise and light and you could look inside.

Slot is good but doesn't match my silver door knocker and door knob. The slot actually has a gray finish. I sent the slot back as it wasn't silver as pictured.

Less than a month after installation, the lid does not return to its place, not only remains open when lifted, but also closes with difficulty closing. The hinge continues to move out of the groove. Assembly required new screws as the ones provided were small and didn't hold up at all. Do not buy this product!

Read the feedback on the type of screws that came with the slot. That's a problem. Take the sleeve too. If you're trying to cut into a hollow-core metal door, a jigsaw or hacksaw is useless. With a solid wooden door, there should be no problems with a gap.

Arrived when and as described. After reading the reviews before buying I knew there were 2 cons to expect. The top two holes are not narrowed for screws on the side of the cover, and the cover is not long enough on the inside. I undertook to drill and countersink holes for the screws, it turned out fine. I bought this to replace a much older one in the front of my house. Nothing happened when unpacking. It feels very light and thin compared to the old one, and the spring is pretty flimsy too. After it was installed our postman tried to push mail through and opened the door all the way but it just stayed open. We tried to take it off but it just cracked the door and chipped a lot of paint. 24 hours after installation it was already broken. I will definitely try to clean my old one. These new…
