Great for the price

The Blazer 12 is a handy and ergonomic tool for getting basic location and tracking information. The altitude function also comes in handy when calibrating weather devices. Sure, you can spend $50 more and get more bells and whistles, but this device has all the information you need for basic urban and rural expeditions. I have to admit that I'm pretty good at navigating anyway, but this model helps to check where I'm at right now. Like any other device used by a novice explorer, it is free but

I also use this device for VFR flight navigation. Manually enter latitude/longitude from current AFD, Flight Guides, airnav.com or Landings.com Works great. identical - when he says you're 30 miles or less from the airport, you can inevitably spot his nose. Okay, but getting the initial ban is difficult.

Thing works pretty well. I got it for free at a car dealership promotion so can't really complain. When traveling I can program latitude/longitude into the device and always reach a waypoint within 0.01 miles. The device is rugged, durable and can withstand a lot of abuse. The battery life is over 10 hours, but it starts to drop sharply after turning on the backlight. The only downside to this device is that it takes a very, very, very, VERY long time to find an initial fix when the batteries…
