🚀 Enhance Engine Performance with MAHLE OX 387D ECO Oil Filter Review

BMW itself does not manufacture consumables. For BMW, consumables are produced by other companies, incl. and MAHLE. At an authorized dealer, this filter (declared as an original) is sold simply with BMW logos, without indicating the manufacturer's company. The filter itself is made in Austria.

I love that Mahle filters are still made in Europe just like my other Bimmer. Not much more money. but obviously better. They are not produced by the cheapest supplier (mann/OEM), but by the company whose name needs to be protected.

Works as expected! In particular, they seal perfectly and are recommended by BMW. I had trouble with a high end brand made in Korea. They're a few bucks more, but they're trouble free and filter my expensive synthetic motor oil pretty well.

I used Mann filters in my e90 because they were available at my local buds. Decided to try this filter. I can't say for sure if this filter actually performs any better, but comparing the build quality of each filter, the Mahle filter would be my pick for now.

In my experience, all Mahle products are OEM quality or better. This filter is no exception as it fits my application perfectly and is of solid construction and quality. In addition, all necessary O-rings, washers and gaskets for assembly were included. As always, the shipping and packaging from Revain was second to none.

I think the Mahle filter is better designed and made than the more popular Mann filter. The filter material is of the highest quality and each end of the filter has an integral rubber gasket around the center hole that seals the top and bottom of the filter in the cartridge holder. This will prevent leakage. The Mann filter does not have this feature.

The filter was a typical high quality Mahle filter HOWEVER I bought this filter for f82, I have always preferred Mahle quality over Mann for E46 applications. To my surprise, this filter is about 3-4mm shorter than the Mann OEM filter in the S55 engine, measured from the top rubber gasket to the bottom gasket, that's enough room for oil to bypass the filter.
