This is a good book for beginners who want to learn how to sew and work with leather. He will teach you which leather is best for your project, how to sew leather, how to rivet and decorate. This gives you a quick overview of the key tools you need to get started. The book has some cute patterns for purses and various bags. If you already know how to work with leather this book may not be what you are looking for, but for a beginner this is a good place to start.

This book is basically a guide for student exhibits but contains all the patterns and construction techniques to make the items shown. Excellent guides plus guidance on choosing the right materials and where and how to get them. Includes all templates on tear-off sheets so you can take them to the copier and enlarge them to the exact size of the patterns. It even includes the email addresses of the people whose work is featured. A truly great addition to any aspiring bag artist's library.

I was very disappointed with the poor tailoring and amateur work of the product samples photographed in this book. I expected more from a professional edition. The student projects with jagged stitching and gaudy designs really distracted from the rest of the book. The step-by-step explanations consisted almost entirely of semi-comic illustrations rather than photographs of the individual steps.
