Cutting edge quickly cuts through wood with maximum efficiency. Thick edge quickly and easily cuts through nails. Screw point pulls bit through material for faster drilling. Engineered with wide flutes for faster chip removal. For drilling holes in wood and nail embedded wood.
I use this to drill holes in wood to make neat fire logs. It cuts perfectly even a 16" thick oak log. This requires power. I use it with a 10 amp Dewalt.
This particular drill had a 3/16 inch vibration. Usually a bit long. Overall not the quality you would expect from Makita. Also made in China. Update: 11-8-2019 I bought a second one and it was better. ok so i changed my score to four.
I purchased the version shown as "Makita D-35798 1-1/8" X 6" Marine Drill Bit Drill depth is approximately 4 1/2 inches and not 6 inches which makes the drill useless to me. The seller included the shank and screw tip in their measurements, which led me to incorrectly believe the effective length to be six inches. On Makita's outside packaging lists the correct and accurate effective drilling depth. As for the drill itself, you'd better have a very powerful corded drill, otherwise it won't work
