Looks best in camera and photo modes

I have not used this product long enough to give a serious review; The 4 star rating is based on my experience with other Manfrotto products. I installed additional quick connect plates on my rear camera and large telephoto lens that allow me to quickly attach things to a tripod or monopod at will. Just take a look.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • The list will go on.

ARRIVED DAYS before the next delivery date!

Indeed NO mention of Amazon or USPS! Use it on a Manfrotto tripod for sky/night star photography as the existing head does not allow shooting directly UP. Well made and very durable material. Have used it now and like its feel, simplicity and weight. Will update when I use it again (and again!)

More than expected; First class finish

A quality article with excellent Italian design and finish. Casting and materials are top notch. The included wrenches for tightening the chamber plates ease the need for a coin. However, I bought the device to use with a Sony superzoom pocket camera and carbon fiber monopod and it's about twice the size I expected, and maybe too big. although I'm testing it right now.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • There are some nuances

Slightly disappointed

I ordered this pan head to use on my top monopod. I have used it with my Nikon 7100 and Nikon 200-500mm. The panner works great and I like how the platter connects to the panhead. Unfortunately, the screw on the plate is too small and doesn't hold the lens well. I took a better screw from another tripod head and it works great. Slightly disappointing given that Manfrotto is considered a top brand. I would NOT recommend this product.

  • A sea of positive emotions

Very simple little head that works great. I took it to Hawaii and used it on a Manfrotto MM290 aluminum monopod with great success, especially on cloudy days with poor lighting. Excellent stability, easy adjustment, low price, and it works with the amazing Peak Design Pro and standard quick release plates. It also offers excellent stability with a Nikon AF-SX 200-500mm lens mounted on a Nikon D-7000. This is a great purchase and I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Pros
  • This is amazing

Everything you need for your monopod!

I bought this head to make my life with a monopod easier. I usually screwed the monopod into the bottom of the camera body, but for portraits I had to unscrew it and hold it with my hand. This swivel head is perfect! Affordable, easy to use. With a monopod I don't need various adjustments. "Portrait" and "Landscape" is all I need when using it. This socket is easy to use and tightens properly. I love it! It has made my life a lot easier. I use it a lot on the golf course at tournaments whereโ€ฆ

Turns a monopod into a universal camera stabilizer

I'm using it on a carbon monopod with an SLR camera in live view mode. On a monopod, this is much easier to use and much lighter than a gimbal or camera stabilizer. The ability to tilt your head on a monopod solves a lot of problems. After some practice, hold the monopod/camera off the ground and use the head tilt function to balance the camera and lens horizontally. Now you have the equivalent of a camera stabilizer, but much more versatile. You can easily make running or tracking shots, evenโ€ฆ

Ideal for monopod.

I use large lenses on a monopod and because my world is not flat I often have to point my camera (DSLR or video) up or down. It took a few minutes to turn this thing back and forth. to iron out, but now everything is fine. BTW I think the extra QR plates are fake, not Manfrotto's. They are different than the ones on the 234 and actually have quite a chemical smell. I installed it on a SIRUI P-326 6-section carbon fiber monopod and the system not only rocks, it's rock solid. Beefy, but withโ€ฆ

  • Exchange Availability

Very nice little swivel head. I use it on my monopod so now it fits the ball head on the tripod. I've stocked my cameras and telephoto lenses with mounting plates so it's easy to change monopods or quickly stop when you're moving quickly. Attach one of the mounting plates to the camera backpack strap with a nut and washer. So now I just slide the monopod into the loop and then attach it to the attached mounting plate and it's secure. Fast and easy. I've noticed that the mounting plates aren'tโ€ฆ
