Great for panning and video work. This brings a new level of fluidity to monopod pans. I had to adjust the tension when I first revived it because there was a spot of no resistance. I live in Central Florida and our soil is sand after I had to disassemble it to get the sand out and I try to only store it in clean areas. However, this is a great product.

This is a nice addition to have in any monopod kit if your monopod only has a bulbous end. I don't know if it works with other monopods but it fits my Manfrotto perfectly and really compensates for the small stand alone camera. although I wouldn't walk away from it like a tripod. Depending on the weight of the gear on it, a little wind or a slight shake of the ground next to it could be enough to tip it over.

The base allows free movement of the monopod in one or two axes. This allows you to rotate the monopod freely to pan the camera without messy movement. This is not a tripod replacement, but a great helper in the video camera field. I'm happy with my monopod and base combo and keep my camcorder in mind while walking or being blind. It improved the quality of my videos.

I doubt this base, I like it, the legs work well and it balances my camera perfectly, but I use it for videos and it doesn't move very smoothly. My pans will have vibration and judder, making clamps useless as the ball will get stuck and snagged when rotating or moving. Although I've invested a lot in this monopod, I'm looking for alternatives as it's unreliably smooth.

Of course this isn't a replacement for a good tripod, but if it's compatible with your monopod it will make a great addition to a mobile setup. With it, you can tilt, swivel and even push/pull much easier. When you tighten the turnbuckles, it will pop open by itself. I added an ankle weight at the bottom and now it's a decent steadicam too. I have an old Manfrotto monopod with just a rubber cap. I removed the connector and installed the base on it with no problems. Fits perfectly. The liquid base was set to the maximum free position. Using an Allen wrench I was able to increase the tension to the level that suits me best. Since the photographer/videographer is often doing the same job with the same camera, even in the same place at the moment, having your feet there when you need them is very handy.
